What is Plein Air Easton?
In its 11th year, Plein Air Easton is the largest and most prestigious outdoor painting competition in the United States. The festival is the work of the non-profit Avalon Foundation. The object of Plein Air Easton is to expose the area’s vibrant arts community to a larger market. The Avalon Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for the people living on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Nice.
Nice is good. Right? Nice is certainly amiable. Unassuming. Congenial. But is it good? After all, the girl doesn’t always get the ‘Nice’ guy, right? The girl wants the bad boy, the rebel, the boundary pusher. The guy who’s going to make her feel like she’s alive.
Why?
Nice is boring. Right?
Maybe.
Like many places sprinkled throughout the United States, Easton, Md. is a quintessentially All-American town. Its tree-lined streets steeped in compelling 18th and 19th-century architecture along with its charming historic district, brick sidewalks and quaint storefronts scream for the likes of Norman Rockwell to come record its beauty on canvas.
Thank you to all of the competition artists and everyone who supported the 2013 event!
