Working from photos, members of the class work to capture the beauty of a garden, a field of sunflowers or a single rose. Each student works through the steps of composing a painting using oil paint or pastel– composition, value studies (Nōtan), underpainting techniques and finishing details—to create a memorable piece of art. The subject matter of this class is perfect because the colors are fresh and rich in chroma. As with all of Katie’s classes, there is personal attention to help each student and weekly critiques with student participation. The richness of color and texture of flowers and other still life make for an exciting painting. This is a rewarding workshop and all levels are accepted. Maximum of 10 students. www.katiecassidyart.com
