Quick Draw Rehearsal
Do you find Plein Air Easton's Quick Draw event to be intense.... even intimidating?
Would you just like a chance to practice before the big day?
Does feedback from instructors and critique and encouragement from fellow artists sound appealing?
Perhaps one of Plein Air Easton's most striking events is the Quick Draw ( this year held on July 16). In this fast-paced painting race against the clock, any artist with $10 and some ambition can paint for prizes and potential sales. The event has been known to have as many as 200 artists vying for any patch of shade to produce their best work, within two hours, surrounded by throngs of eager art collectors. The scene is full of intense excitement and even many great plein air painters find the event terrifying.
For anyone who wants to have a practice run, PAE has partnered with Chesapeake Fine Arts Studio to facilitate Quick Draw Rehearsal the day before the big Quick Draw. Registration can be done online (below) and check in is between 9-10 am on Friday, July 15 at the Avalon Theatre. Artists can paint within the boundaries set for the Quick Draw for two hours without the crowd that is expected on Saturday. Instructors from CFAS will check in with any artists who request coaching and will provide feedback, guidance and encouragement. Eric Bowman, accomplished plein air painter, second place winner of PAE 2012, and signature member of AIS & LPAPA will be the event judge and will be critiquing the collected works at 1pm. Prizes and scholarship awards provided by CFAS.
