Wood Carving Demo with artist Mike Campbell
Mike Campbell has lived an adventurous life full of diverse experiences. A United States Marine, acupuncturist, and paramedic, Mike believes in fully engaging in the adventure of life, and creating driftwood sculptures is an expression of those experiences.
An Eastern Shore native, Mike grew up on the water. He feels a close connection to the shorelines and the nature of the Bay. He first began working with driftwood during a trip to Belize, where he met a local wood carver in Placencia. He has been able to bring those skills back to the Eastern Shore, and creates beautiful, abstract sculptures from driftwood local to the area.
“Nature is the true artist. Each piece develops organically in the creation process; I don’t set out to make a specific object – the piece tells me what it should become. The sculptures reflect the emotion and truth of the person that sees it; often observers see different images in the same piece. “
We will also be serving wine and cheese that evening. There is no registration or cost for this event.
