Oil Painting Demonstration with Diane DuBois Mullaly
Mullaly is an instructor at the Academy Art Museum and has been a Plein Air Easton Competition Artist five times.
Born in Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay, Diane grew up in rural southeastern Pennsylvania and attended Tyler School of Art of Temple University. She has been an art director in women’s fashion, a graphic designer in New York City, an antiques seller in Washington, DC, and an art gallery consultant in Easton. Now, she is an instructor at the Academy Art Museum where she is also organizer and mentor of the monthly paint out "Saturdays en Plein Air". A devoted plein air painter, Diane has been juried into Plein Air Easton five times. She also has a strong interest in studio painting of the figure and portrait, and is an award winning painter of miniatures in oil. In Maryland, Diane’s work is exhibited at The Green Phoenix Gallery, Easton; at Grafton Galleries (miniatures only), Easton; and Benfield Gallery, Severna Park. In Virginia, at Jarrett-Thor Fine Arts, Colonial Beach. She has studied diligently with local, regional and nationally recognized painters; and teaches a popular series of oil painting classes and workshops at the Academy Art Museum, Easton, Maryland. Her goal as a painter is to create paintings which grab the viewer with their energy yet also speak quietly, with poetic and soulful passages. As an instructor, Diane’s goal is to bring out the best in each painter and make creating art lively and fun. She lives with her husband near Easton, Maryland.
