"For me, plein-air painting is a form of meditation. Absorbing the scene in front of me, I relax and let the brush flow, catching the light, colors and essence of this particular moment".

Born in Paris, France to a family of artists, early on being exposed and encouraged in art, Daisy de Puthod knew from an early age she would be an artist. Comfortable in all mediums, Daisy believes in the value of a strong drawing foundation. Throughout her life, she has attended life drawing, the best exercise in eye-hand coordination, always recommending working from life to artists starting out.

Early in her career in Colorado, after a degree in Commercial Art, Daisy de Puthod created logos and adds, fashion illustration for newspapers and magazines, and posters for music and theatre. After moving to NY, she did illustrations for advertising and book publishers, including Marvel Comics. Daisy also found the time to paint portraits in pastel and architectural renderings in pen & ink or watercolor.

Daisy has now found her passion in plein-air painting in oils or acrylics. She participated in over 25 juried plein-air events in California, Maine, Maryland, New York, Vermont and Virginia, including the prestigious Easton Plein-Air Competition & Arts Festival in Maryland. In the summers, Daisy likes to paint the coastline of Maine. She is a Signature member of the American Impressionist Society and the New York Plein Air Painters and a member of the NYC Urban Sketchers. Her paintings are found in numerous private and public collections, including the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and the home of the former chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts.

Daisy loves to work from life... always looking for the special moment when the subject comes alive in the painting.
