Over time, artists  hope to develop a way of working that is a comfortable fit with their temperament and way of seeing. I like being in and working from nature and while I consider myself more a studio than a plein air painter, all of my work is informed by the same demand for focused attention and quick decisions that characterize painting on site.  I like passionate gestures and simple shapes and I love the way the natural world offers up more subjects and moods than I can possibly paint.  For me, a work of art only succeeds if it celebrates being fully alive.
