Picasso at the Lapin Agile

Groove/Factory brings wit, intellect, and a touch of whimsy to the stage with its production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Presented in partnership with Plein Air Easton, this lively performance offers the perfect theatrical complement to a day immersed in art.
Written by Steve Martin, the play imagines a chance meeting between two young visionaries—Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein—in a Parisian café in 1904, just before either man becomes a household name. What unfolds is a fast-paced, thought-provoking comedy as the pair spar over art, science, inspiration, and the nature of genius.
Filled with sharp humor, playful absurdity, and moments of genuine insight, Picasso at the Lapin Agile invites audiences to consider what it means to be ahead of one’s time. Groove/Factory’s production captures the spirit of possibility and imagination at the turn of the 20th century—making it a delightful and fitting extension of Easton’s vibrant arts scene.
