Sherwood, MD

Inducted into the Plein Air Easton Hall of Fame in 2024

We discovered Talbot County twenty-three years ago and bought a second, vacation home in St. Michaels.  During that time, we came to learn about the Avalon Foundation and the creative and dedicated staff led by Al and Jess.  When we retired and moved here permanently in 2004, we learned that they were launching a new program, Plein Air Easton, and were intrigued.

By supporting PAE we realized two new objectives.   We wanted to refocus our charitable giving to local organizations and wanted to share our love of the stunning landscapes of Talbot County with others. Plein Air Easton accomplished those objectives.

We have watched in awe and pride as Plein Air Easton has become the largest, most prestigious plein air art competition in the country.

During this time, we have hosted and gotten to know more than 30 artists from around the world and have filled our home with their incredible art.
