I began painting in my early teens, and eventually studied painting and color theory at the University of Connecticut. I initially began by painting marine subjects, and was fortunate enough to receive some basic instruction from notable painters Carl G. Evers and Christopher Blossom.

Over time, I formed a more lasting interest in painting landscapes. I enjoy working on location. While working en-plein-air is significantly more challenging than in a studio setting, I find that the work produced is less contrived, and richer in content. Almost all of the studio paintings I execute are done from field work studies.

My landscapes have been juried into numerous regional exhibitions including the RAAM National exhibit (2022), the AIS National exhibit (2024), and the Granby Land trust open juried shows (2017 - 2024). I enjoy traveling to different parts of the country to paint, and have participated in numerous painting festivals and competitions in the tri-state area and beyond. In 2023 I was honored to receive the Artists Choice award at the Gloucester Invitational event (Gloucester, VA), and in 2024 was fortunate to receive 2nd Prize there. I received the 'Best Marine' painting award at Plein Air Easton (Easton, MD) in 2023, and in 2024 was awarded 1st Place at the Adirondack Plein air festival in Saranac Lake, NY.

I frequently show my work at the Lyme Art Association Gallery in Old Lyme. Lyme, CT is the birthplace of American Impressionist art, and the associations representational art heritage is unparalleled.

A selection of my prints on paper, and original works may be purchased at the Art Gallery at Shutterspeed photo in Middlebury, CT. The Art Gallery at Shutterspeed features exquisite work by artists and artisans from across Connecticut. My work can also be viewed at Alofft Gallery on Main street in Litchfield, CT. Alofft features an eclectic collection of work by contemporary painters from across New England. Susan Powell Gallery in Madison, CT runs a series of themed exhibits each year which will typically include several of my paintings.
