Troika Gallery presents The Painterly Sublime, 2 Points of View
Two master artists with distinctly different yet complementary styles come together for this exceptional pas de deux. Raoul Middleman has been painting for half a century and teaching at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore for more than 45 years. Kevin Fitzgerald is a nationally‑recognized tonalist whose dedicated collectors span the globe. Fitzgerald took classes from Middleman at the Maryland Institute of Art and was a master apprentice to Middleman from 1973 to 1976. Fitzgerald attributes his perseverance as an artist to Middleman and his teachings. “The belief that a painting can convey something of significance is the central idea that came across to me in Raoul’s classes,” Fitzgerald says. “We continue to work toward this ideal.”
Meet these inspiring artists during an Opening Reception on Friday, July 11 from 5-8pm during Easton’s Gallery Walk. Refreshments will be served. Artists talk at 7pm (not-to-be-missed!)
