After a career in commercial art, Carla settled on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. There she is inspired by the local scenery as well as the unique light. Working primarily in oils, Carla particularly enjoys painting boats, marshes, wildlife and farmland. While remaining true to her subject matter, she still strives for a looser, impressionist style in her painting.
