The Working Artists Forum Announces the 12th Annual Local Color Art Show & Sale

by Doris C. Glovier

It's already March and that means this long winter is almost over and I think most of us are enormously grateful! It also means plans for the 12th Annual Local Color Art Show & Sale, sponsored by The Working Artists Forum, are well underway. The show dates are Friday, July 15th - Sunday July 17th at Easton's Tidewater Inn, held in conjunction with The Plein Air Easton Art Festival. The three day event offers collectors an exceptional opportunity to view and purchase beautiful original art created in studio or en plein air by 42 working artists from around the Eastern Shore.

Local Color is juried and judged by winners of the previous year’s Plein Air Easton Festival. The show judge this year is Jason Sacran, Plein Air Easton’s 2015 Grand Prize winner. Local Color is juried this year by Tim Bell, the 2015 Plein Air Easton second place winner.  We are delighted to announce that Friday, Sacran and Bell will offer the first two of five free painting demonstrations sponsored by The Working Artists throughout the weekend. Enjoy the opportunity to observe and chat with the teacher/artists that will have their easels set up outside The Tidewater Inn.

The prospectus/call to artists is online at www.workingartistsforum.com. Delmarva artists wishing to apply for Local Color will register on the website between March 11th and the deadline of April 29th. The prospectus will also be emailed to previously participating artists. Please email glovier@comcast.net if you haven't participated in the past to be added to our standing email list.

Proceeds from Local Color help to fund The Working Artists Forum's educational program for art classes in local public schools. The WAF is an organization of painters working in one or more medium. Professional expertise of its membership is fostered through programs, group critiques, demonstrations, workshops, and member exhibitions. Pro bono work for the community is encouraged. To learn more about The Working Artists Forum check out their website: www.workingartistsforum.com.
