Plein Air Easton offers its competition artists lots of opportunities: the opportunity to paint beautiful landscapes, the opportunity to sell paintings, and the opportunity to be really, really……hot. But also, there is the opportunity to have your work seen and judged by true fine art connoisseurs. It’s especially true this year, as artists will have their work seen by this year’s judge Peter Trippi editor of Fine Art Connoisseur magazine.
Each year, Plein Air-Easton! Names a new jurist who reviews, assesses, and ultimately selects the competitors from the many exemplary entries. In order to be a Plein Air-Easton! jurist, one must have exceptional credentials to ensure that we present a great show.
As a special treat that helps us celebrate the 10th anniversary of the largest Plein Air painting competition in the nation, all artists applying for Plein Air-Easton! 2014 will have their work viewed by esteemed art collector Kip Forbes. Mr. Forbes is the Vice Chairman of Forbes, the media company founded by his grandfather in 1917, and has cultivated a well-deserved reputation for a life dedicated to supporting the arts.
With an Art History degree from Princeton University, Mr. Forbes is currently the Chairman of the American Friends of the Louvre and serves on the Advisory Board of the Princeton University Art Museum and the Board of Directors of the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island Foundation, among other museums in the U.S. and abroad. With extensive experience in cultivating the mutually beneficial relationship between the business and art worlds, Mr. Forbes has also organized many exhibitions and written several books, articles, and catalogues devoted to Victorian art and Faberge.
We are truly humbled to be able to present a jurist of Mr. Forbe’s caliber to ensure that this year’s competition draws the truly best talent in the Plein Air world to our beautiful community this summer. Art lovers, we are confident that you will see some of the very best work in ten years of Plein Air – Easton! this coming summer. And artists, the deadline for application is fast approaching!
